Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has officially filed his nomination to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer-ship ahead of the 2028 general elections at the party's headquarters on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
He was accompanied by a crowd of party supporters, who chanted and waved placards in a show of solidarity.
NPP makes changes to voters register ahead of 2026 presidential primary
“No Ken, No Vote!” supporters chanted as Kennedy Agyapong prepared to address the crowd after submitting his nomination forms.
Party officials confirmed that all nomination documents were properly filed.
Agyapong becomes the second aspirant to officially enter the race.
On Tuesday August 27, 2025, former General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyapong, also filed his nomination forms for the party’s flagbearer contest ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The NPP has scheduled January 31, 2026, for its presidential primary to elect a flagbearer to lead party into the 2028 elections.
