Nii Okaija Adamafio Resigns From NDC

A former Interior minister under the Rawlings administration, Nii Okaija Adamafio has resigned from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In a statement, Nii Okaija Adamafio who is a former Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, said the NDC is still struggling to be open and democratic- 14 years after it was founded.

He said the profound force of the personality of the party?s founder, former president Jerry Rawlings, has derailed the democratization of the party.

Mr Adamafio?s decision to quit follows a lull in a string of resignations that hit the NDC following its National Delegates Congress in Koforidua in December last year. The former party chairman Dr Obed Asamoah who also quit the party after the congress has remained silent since and refused to comment on reports that he intends to join a new political grouping being formed
