New voters' register won’t make 2016 elections credible - Amaliba

A legal Practitioner, Abraham Amaliba, has stated that a new voters' register will not make next year’s election more credible.

He said under the CI 72 which regulates the electoral processes in Ghana, there is a period that the register is exhibited.

According to Mr. Amaliba, the EC must be allowed to find good ways foreigners and impersonation can be expunged from the register other than changing the whole register.

“If you have concerns of people who are not eligible to be on the register, you come and go through the processes by filling a form for those names to be expunged. So that is the way to go.

“If you look at their argument that there are foreigners on the register, what is the guarantee that a new register being opened today would not have foreigners on it,” Amaliba said in an interview on Starr News.
