New Edubiase NPP intensifies campaign

Tweapease (Ash), Dec 1, GNA - With barely a few days to the presidential and parliamentary elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the New Edubiase constituency in the Adansi South District has embarked on a last-minute campaign trail to win the seat in the constituency. The constituency has since 1992 been a stronghold of the NDC, having retained the seat on four consecutive times. So far, the NPP campaign team has toured almost all the communities on a house-to-house base, during which they explained the NPP's manifesto to the electorate, to keep them abreast with the achievements and the vision of the Party when given the mandate. Addressing separate rallies at Tweapease, Nsata, Subriso, Kawtrihwe and Abu at the weekend, Mr Thomas Mensah, Constituency Chairman, cautioned the electorate not give in to the lies being peddled by some parties, that the NPP had failed to deliver on its campaign promises. He said it was not true that the Party had mismanaged the economy thereby resulting in high unemployment rate and untold hardships among Ghanaians, stressing that the feat chalked by the NPP in the last eight years suggested otherwise.

Mr Mensah cited for instance the institution of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), School Feeding Programme and massive infrastructure developments as some of the interventions by the NPP, which had helped to alleviate poverty whiles improving upon the standard of living of the masses. He told the people to go out in their numbers to exercise their franchise without any fear of harassment and intimidation. Mr Degraft Kyei-Baffour, the NPP parliamentary candidate, said the solid foundation laid by the Kufuor's administration for improved socio-economic development will be a mirage if Ghanaians voted NDC to power, since the country will go back to its dark days of abuse of human rights, tyranny and economic mismanagement. He had earlier presented 64 streetlight bulbs worth 17,000 Ghana cedis to seven communities in the constituency. They are Praso, Ataasi, Apagya, New Edubiase, Atobiase, Amudurase and Atiaso.
