300,000 Dollars For School Of Medical Sciences

Kumasi, Aug 14, -- The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) yesterday received books and medical supplies valued at more 300,000 dollars on behalf of the University of Science and Technology School of Medical Sciences and the School for the Mentally Retarded. The items which were presented by a delegation from Charlotte City, North Carolina in the United States, included paediatric equipment, used clothing, religious literature and other educational materials. Mrs Tawana Wilson-Allen, the leader of the delegation, said the donation follows the protocol agreement signed between the KMA and Carolina City. The delegation also presented pictures of the City of Carolina, depicting how it was between 1995 to 1997. They are to be displayed in the hall of the KMA. The KMA also presented each member of the delegation a wood carving, kente stole and a pennant embossed with the KMA emblem. The presentation was made jointly by Mr Edward Osei Kwaku and Mr Ahmed Musah, Members of Parliament for Asokwa West and East respectively. Mr Abraham Kofi Gyamfi, the presiding member of the assembly, commended the delegation and expressed the hope that the friendship between the two cities would continue to grow.
