Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launches campaign at Nsaba

Agona Nsaba (C/R), April 23, GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2008 Presidential election, on Thursday launched his campaign in the Central to contest the NPP flagbearership in the 2012 general election. Nana Akufo-Addo who was accompanied by some NPP members of Parliament and supporters of the party, met delegates, polling station executives, council of elders and constituency executives at separate meetings at Agona Nsaba, Agona Swedru and Gomoa Ekwamkrom.

The New Patriotic Party will elect its Presidential candidate on August 7 2010.

Launching the campaign, Nana Akufo-Addo called on supports "to vote for him to lead the party, because he is the only aspirant who could clinch victory for the NPP in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections". The NPP Presidential hopeful noted that the government of National Democratic Congress (NDC) has created untold economic hardship in the country and asked Ghanaians to vote it out.

He said the NDC government was not managing the country, adding that supporters of "NPP were being intimidated, harassed and removed from offices without any justification".

On education, he said he would make Senior High School education free when Ghanaians vote for him in 2012 elections, adding that education is the only panacea for human development.

Nana Akufo-Addo, said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government under President Mills was making mockery of Education and urged the youth to do their best to bring him to power.

He called for unity among aspirants and other members of the party since it was through unity that the party could capture power. Among those following Nana Akufo-Addo were Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo, former finance Minister and MP Akim Oda, Mr Kwamena Essilifie Bartles, former Minister of Interior, Mr Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin North, Mr Dominic Nitiwu MP for Bimbila, Ms Cathrine Affeku, MP for Evalue Dwira, Mr Kobina Okyere-Darko, MP for Takoradi and other top ranking officials of the party. They all appealed to the voters to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo to lead the party in the 2012 election to ensure victory for NPP.
