NPP will uphold Party Constitution

Accra Feb. 2, GNA - The Executive Members of the New Patriotic Party in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Constituency in the Central Region on Wednesday, said they will continue uphold the Party's Constitution and that no amount of propaganda would enable people to reap where they have not sown.

Mr Andrew Asamoahdu Buadoo, First Vice Chairman told the GNA in a reaction to a news story that the NPP MP for the constituency, Mr P.C. Appiah-Ofori was causing confusion among party members and that the leadership of the party should call him to order. Mr Buadoo said those who made the call did so out of desperation adding that, they wanted to deceive the party after it had won the 2004 election to maintain their jobs.

He alleged that Mr Sampson Kwame Anfako, District Chief Executive (DCE) campaigned for the NDC candidate because he claimed the candidate was his relation.

The Constituency First Vice Chairman said, "Since we the Executive took office in April last year the DCE has refused to work with us. Now the party has won and he has to apply for his position through us the constituency executive then Ms Phyllis Nyarko who has been expelled from the party finds it expedient to say the MP should be called to order".

He commended Mr Appiah-Ofori for what he called "the good work that he has done" and said the statement by Ms Nyarko and some 31 people who claimed to be members of the party was just meant to blackmail him. Mr Buadoo said it was not true that the massive win of the NPP and Mr Appiah-Ofori was the result of the hard work of the DCE.

"The DCE and Ms Nyarko campaigned openly for the NDC candidate in the constituency and that is why they have been expelled from the party," he said.

He said the DCE was trying to do something to enable him retain his position, however he has not helped the NPP to work effectively in the area and was bringing division among the NPP supporters in the area On February 2, this year a GNA story was published in the Daily Graphic with the headline "Call Appiah-Ofori to Order. Some NPP activists in Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa demand"

The story among other things stated that Mr Appiah-Ofori had targeted the DCE and some members of the party for no reason.
