The Upper East Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sanctioned sixteen party officials and members from the Pusiga and Tempane constituencies for various acts of misconduct during the 2024 general elections.
A statement issued by the party and signed by Regional Chairman Anthony Namoo on August 1, 2025, said the disciplinary action follows a thorough investigation by the Regional Disciplinary Committee, which began its work on January 25, 2025.
Hearings were held in March, and the committee submitted its findings in June.
“The NPP must remain a party of discipline and integrity. These actions, though difficult, are necessary to preserve the values we stand for and to deter future misconduct”, the report said.
Among those sanctioned is the 2nd Vice Chairman, Sawuda Bilgumsey, who has been removed from office and barred from holding any party position until he refunds monies he is alleged to have misappropriated.
Six officials, including Musah Awudu, 1st Vice Chairman, and Jacob Akazusah, Treasurer, have been removed from office and banned from holding party positions for five years.
One coordinator has been dismissed and given a four-year ban, while eight others comprising polling station officers and party members have been barred from holding party positions for three years.
Five individuals, including Salifu Ibn Adams, the Constituency Research and Elections Officer, were exonerated after being found not guilty of the allegations brought against them.
The party has directed that all affected positions be filled in accordance with its internal rules and procedures.
The Regional Executive Committee stated that the sanctions are aimed at reinforcing party discipline and ensuring accountability among members.
