NPP not taking chances in the 2008 elections-Dan Botwe

Kumasi, April 29, GNA - Mr Dan Botwe, Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the National Campaign Team of the NPP, has said the party was going to the December election with vigorous might and seriousness in order to win convincingly.

"The party is not taking chances. Our attitude will not change. We will fight the election as if we are in opposition", he told some journalists in Kumasi on Monday after a two-day training exercise for party officers in the Ashanti Region.

Ten executive members from each of the constituencies in the region attended the workshop that aimed at equipping them with knowledge on the electoral process and the roles expected of them as party officers.

The participants will in turn train polling station and wards chairmen in their constituencies to build their capacities towards the elections. Mr Botwe said the National Campaign Team was not being complacent and was instituting structures to ensure effective delivery of messages that championed the achievements of the party in the last eight years to the electorates.

He said the training programme was a nationwide exercise to build the capacities of party executives and agents to help them draw up their own programmes for the December polls.

Mr Botwe said training and equipping party structures at all levels had helped the party in winning elections and expressed the hope that the exercise would enable the beneficiaries identify their strength and weaknesses and campaign effectively.
