Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has entreated Ghanaian electorates to vote back the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the honour his two-time campaign manager, Jake Otankah Obetsebi Lamptey, who passed away in a London hospital in the early hours of Sunday.

According to the former President, Jake was a man who fought hard for the party he loved and so the best way to eulogize the fallen hero is to vote back the NPP to power to restore hope to Ghanaians .

The former President was speaking on Atinka FM Drive Monday .

“NPP is the only hope for Ghanaians right now. Our constitution allows for an alternating government structure. It also states that a party can only stay in government for a period of terms. "Ghanaians should assess their standard of living and vote on that . I’m appealing to the party to unite in order to wrestle power from the NDC,” he said.

Former President Kufuor further noted, “I was saddened by the news of the death of my all time friend".

"He was a man of strict principle, well disciplined and tolerant. He was a master in communication and advertising. I highly respected him for what he did for the party and what he stood for.”

Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey was the National Campaign Manager of the victorious New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2,000 Presidential elections, which saw the first constitutional (civilian-to-civilian) transition of power in Ghana.
