NPP must seek unity and stop attacking Apraku - Agyarko

NPP 2008 Campaign Manager for Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has been on the receiving end of verbal attacks after he said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) can only come back to power if there is a change of leadership.

The slandering worsened after Dr Apraku started making various comments suggesting perhaps that he might run for the position of flagbearer.

While some have condemned the act of attacking Dr Apraku’s personality, others are of the view that he deserves it; adding he (Dr Apraku) has betrayed the trust that Nana Akufo-Addo reposed in him as his campaign manager.

Speaking to the issue on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, MP for Ayawaso West Wougon constituency said it is ‘natural’ for ‘people to contest’ each other in a party “and so we must manage it”.

“We have every right to talk about persons when we need to…I think we must just manage this. We must make a clear distinction about what people say about persons and what they will say about the party. We must learn to manage it because it is a natural process…” he asserted.

He asked members of the NPP to focus on putting up a united front because Ghanaians are looking up to them to bring back hope into the country.

“I am not very sure about what Dr Apraku said, but I think we are taking it overboard. The back and forth insults are not important. We must seek unity. We must all learn to accept that it is a contest and issues will come up…My clear understanding is that we are the only hope for Ghanaians and so such (internal) wranglings will not help us,” he added.
