NPP members cautioned to be circumspect

The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sam Pyne has entreated party supporters in the region to be circumspect in their airwaves discourse.

He charged them to be mindful of their speeches in order not to spark disunity that will mar the peace in the party ahead of November general elections.

According to him, internal squabbles will be detrimental to the party’s electoral agenda and that the electorates will not consider NPP as a political party yearning to win power.

He made these remarks on Kumasi-based Nhyira fm, following the just ended delayed parliamentary primary at Manhyia North constituency.

‘I would want to plead with everybody especially NPP members who speak on radio and television to be very circumspect in whatever they say, we encountered lots of struggles before organising the elections, the primary is over, and I have listened to the three contestants what they are all drumming is that we all have one ultimate goal to achieve, which is to work hard for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to become a president, so whatever problems that came up, we should bury our differences and forge ahead, its not necessary to cause troubles, losers of supporters should stay calm and rally behind the winner as one family,’ he admonished.

The Incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency Collins Owusu Amankwaa won the primary.

The Manhyia North constituency until Saturday’s primary was one of the outstanding constituencies the party was yet to hold a primary in view of series of litigation regarding the album, Electoral College and many other outstanding issues.

He polled 185 votes to beat his closest contender Akwasi Kunadu and Nana Osei Bamfo who both 171 and 129 respectively to represent the party a second time.
