NPP loses Prestea-Huni Valley seat to NDC

Prestea (W/R), Dec. 8, GNA - New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni Valley, Albert Kwaku Obbin has lost his seat to Francis Adu Blay Koffie of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Election 2008. Koffie polled 21,887 votes as against Obbin's 18,077 votes. Mubashir Tamimu Dari of Convention People's Party, 11,552 votes; Charles Kojo Adu Fordjour of Democratic Freedom Party polled 706 votes; Edwin Asare of Democratic People's Party had 314 votes and Osei Kuffour Ooyey, Independent, 279 votes. Total parliamentary valid votes cast were 53,642 while 827 ballots were rejected.

In the Presidential race Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo obtained 24,021 votes; Former Vice President John Evans Atta Mills had 23,937 votes; Paa Kwesi Nduom had 3,713 votes; Emmanuel Ansah Antwi of Democratic Freedom Party, 181 votes; Edward Mahama of People's National Convention 166 votes; T.N. Ward-Brew of Democratic People's Party, 97 votes; Kwesi Amoafo Yeboah, Independent, 91 votes and Kwabena Adjei of Reformed Patriotic Democrats 28 votes. Total valid votes cast were 53,931 while 1,697 ballots were rejected.
