NPP aspirants advised to campaign on issues

Elder Dr Yao Yeboah, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Aspirant in the Dormaa Central Municipality, at the weekend advised the party’s candidates contesting in the impending parliamentary primaries to base their campaigns on issues and achievements.

He urged the candidates to exhibit a high sense of civility and maturity in their campaigns to demonstrate and portray to Ghanaians that the party was ready and prepared to wrest power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Election 2016.

Dr Yeboah, a Lecturer at the School of Public Health, University of Ghana, emphasized that clean campaigns, devoid of personality attacks and insulting statements, were required from candidates for their followers to follow suit.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Dormaa-Ahenkro, that the NPP needed to guard against all forms of divisive tendencies that could subsequently affect the 2016 electioneering campaign and narrow the fortunes of the party as well.

He emphasized that the party delegates had the power to elect a winnable candidate to contest the general election, and that, what is expected of every candidate is to sell his or her manifesto well so that the delegates could make the right choice.

Dr Yeboah, who is a Development and Social Services Planner, called on the leadership of the party to endeavour to ensure that the impending internal elections were conducted in an atmosphere of peace without bias so that defeated constants would concede and support wining candidates for the national election.

He said according to a study, about 95 per cent of the delegates in the municipality had lost confidence in the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, Mr Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, his only contender, and was optimistic that they would vote massively for him (Dr Yeboah).

Dr Yeboah, who holds a Ph.D in Development and Social Service Policy Planning and Management and a Master of Science in Heath Economics, mentioned education, health, agriculture and job creation, as his major priorities.

He emphasized that an opportunity ought to be created to boost the poultry and livestock industry, which serves as the major occupation for the local people in the Municipality.
