NPP activists and supporters urged not to be complacent

Juaso-Ashanti, Nov. 6, GNA - Activists and supporters of New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been urged not to be complacent in their efforts to canvass for votes during Election 2008. Mr Asante Boateng, Patron of Asante Akim South "One Touch for Nana Akufo-Addo 2008 Campaign Team" gave the advice at its launching at Juaso-Ashanti.

He said the Party's quest for a landslide victory on December 7, to enable it accelerate socio-economic development in the country would not be achieved when activists and supporters became complacent and failed to intensify the campaign and educate the electorate on the NPP's achievements over the past eight years.

Mr Boateng stressed the need for the leadership of the Party especially at the Constituency level to avoid internal squabbles and move ahead in unity because the task ahead required a united front. He asked members of the team to live up to its "no second round" slogan by working assiduously to win votes for the Party even in the strongholds of opposition parties.

Nana Asante Gyeabour, former Asante Akim South Constituency Chairman of NPP, expressed concern about lack of team spirit among members in the Constituency which had led to polarization of the constituency executive committee.

He said the situation posed a serious threat to the electoral fortunes of the Party as some members who felt sidelined were reluctant to involve themselves in Party activities. Nana Gyeabour appealed to the aggrieved members to place interest of the Party above their individual grievances to ensure victory on December 7 and pledged to address their concerns after Election 2008.
