NPP Supports Kwaebibirem DCE

Akwatia (E/R), April 12, GNA - The members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the two constituencies in Kwaebibirem District of the Eatern Region have expressed surprise at a call by "Some Unknown Kwaebibirem Youth" on President John Agyekum Kufuor not to re-nominate Mr Yaw Yiadom Boakye, as the District Chief Executive for the area. In a statement released at Akwatia on Monday and jointly signed by Mr Joe Danso, Secretary of the Akwatia Constituency Branch of NPP and Mr Addo Danquah, a Leading Member from Kade Constituency, rather expressed their confidence that the President would re-nominate the DCE to continue with "his marvellous work for an unprecedented second tenure of office".

The statement was in reaction to a press conference held in Accra by one King Sam, who claimed to be a Spokesman of the Kwaebibirem Youth, calling on President Kufuor not to re-nominate Mr Yiadom-Boakye for the post.

The statement noted that "the chiefs, elders and opinion leaders in the District, as well as Regional and National Political Leaders had heaped deserved praises on Mr Yiadom-Boakye for his hard work during his first term of office".

The release said Opinion Leaders in the District had expressed their acknowledgement for Mr Yiadom-Boakye's "unparallel administrative acumen, excellent performance in terms of socio-economic development in the District, even to the admiration of people from the other side of the political divide", the statement said.

It described that the call not to appoint any citizen of Kade to any political position, as hypocritical", claiming that the MP for Kade, Mr Ofosu Asamoah, was appointed to serve on the Board of the Ghana Consolidated Diamond at Akwatia.

The statement denied the accusation that the President never visited the Kade Constituency during his last tenure as not true, saying that he had addressed separate durbars at Asuom and Kade as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region.

According to the statement, the DCE succeeded in resolving a dispute between the people of Okumaning and the Ghana Oil Palm Development Company (GOPDC) at Kwae.

It further stated that his action paved the way for the smooth take-off of the Okumaning Oil Palm Plantation, which had provided jobs for hundreds of people in the District.
