Western Regional Minister Paul Evans Aidoo ,has observed that it was lack of vigilance that caused the ruling party's defeat in Sekondi in the 2012 election.

But he has vowed that never again will the party let their guard down, particularly in this year’s election.

In 2012, then NPP parliamentary candidate, Papa Owusu Ankomah garnered 14,735 votes to beat NDC’s candidate Anthony Richard Cudjoe who had 13,641.

Supporters of the defeated former Sekondi Takoradi Mayor vehemently protested at the collation center. However Captain Rtd Anthony later Cudjoe conceded defeat.

Mr Evans Aidoo insists the result of the 2012 parliamentary elections in Sekondi was a stolen verdict and blamed his own party for not being vigilant.

The Minister who was speaking at the campaign launch of NDC’s Sekondi parliamentary candidate Emmanuel Assafuah stated that the party has learnt its lessons and will ensure that the right winner is declared on December 7.

Mr. Evans Aidoo who is the parliamentary candidate for Sefwi Bekwai, noted that Sekondi should be more thankful to the NDC government as it is during its reign that all the good things have happened.

He said even though Sekondi has not voted for the party for decades the government has always kept faith with them with the numerous projects.
