Member of the Council of State, Sam Okudzeto, has said neither the National Democratic Congress (NDC) nor the New Patriotic Party (NPP) symbolizes the ideologies they claim to be.

In an interview with Rev Dr Kwabena Opuni Frimpong on ‘What is Next’ on GTV, the statesman noted that the two do not show signs of either a Socialist or Capitalist party.

He further revealed that Ghanaians are confused about the concept of political philosophy and ideology.

Touching on each party, Mr Okudzeto said instead of promoting socialism, most members of the NDC are only seeking wealth.

“…a lot of the young men I see in the NDC want to be as rich as anybody else. There are many I knew who had nothing and now I see them riding in the most luxurious cars, they have houses which I cannot afford to build and so that person cannot convince me that he is a socialist.”

He added that the NPP is also confused about the ideology it professes as most policies implemented under the current administration do not point at capitalism.

“You talk about free SHS is that capitalist or socialist, the idea is that equip every young person in Ghana with education and therefore that person will be positioned to contribute to nation-building. That is the whole idea behind it so I will say that the concept of that ideology to me doesn’t exist.”

The former member of parliament concludes that the conduct and behaviour of both political parties do not show signs of the ideologies they claim to represent.
