NPP/NDC clash over EC, STL

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress have locked horns over the role of the Israeli Company, Superlock Technologies Limited (STL) during the 2012 elections.

General Secretary of the ruling NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has blamed the NPP for the goof by the Interior Minister that STL transmitted electoral results during the 2012 elections.

The Interior Minister Propser Bani released a statement to justify the arrest of the three South African ex-police officers where portion of the statement confirmed that the EC contracted STL to transmit the electoral results and an STL document has been found on one of the the South African trio. Meanwhile the EC has in 2012 denied any contractual agreement between them and STL.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah in his bid to defend the Interior Minister on frontline asked Ghanaians to blame the NPP because its the NPP that has been trumpeting that there is a contact between EC and STL that is why the Interior Minister also goofed.
According to him, the NPP is aware that the EC through a Transparent International Competitive Bidding contracted STL to provide technological support in preparing the biometric register and not to transmit the results as speculated by the NPP.

But responding to what Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said, Director of Elections for the New Patriotic Party, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah denied knowledge of the NPP over the said contract between the EC and STL.
He quizzed whether the chief scribe of the NDC listens to himself when he talks.

I cannot fathom why Asiedu Nketiah should blame the NPP for the goof by the Interior Minister that, STL transmits electoral results when the situation is not so.

Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah described his opponent as someone who ''lacks wisdom and speaks like a toddler''.
He explained, he finds it extremely shocking for Mr. Asiedu Nketiah to defend the Interior Minister, Prosper Bani who was not held a gun or knife point in issuing such a statement to confirm that STL was contracted to transmit the 2012 elections results.

Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah said the EC should be either denying the statement by the Interior Ministry and not the NDC.

He noted a certain serious and dangerous situation has arisen from the current situation because the already dwindling integrity of the EC is going to be worse.

He said the EC has lost its credibility as an electioneering body to ensure public trust.

Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah cited the UNDP report which indicted STL for breaching its contractual agreement with the EC to manage the biometric voters register, a report he stated the EC failed to explain to the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) when the subject came up for discussion.
He restated that the NPP as a political party is unaware of the exact role of contractual agreement between the EC and STL.
