NPP Eastern Regional Communications Director must speak like an intellectual – NDC communicator

Godwin Mahama, National Communication team member Godwin Mahama, National Communication team member

National Communication Team Member, Godwin Mahama has urged members of the New Patriotic Party to desist from using abusive language when speaking on national issues.

He said, attacks on former President John Dramani Mahama by the Eastern Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, David Prah is pointless as they are not based on facts.

He urged them to speak like intellectuals if you want to be taken seriously.

In a pres statement he said "David Prah, once again, demonstrated his inability to debate issues and at the end, did a great disservice to his Party and Government, particularly on issues of infrastructural projects at the health sector. In his self-promotional gimmick haste, he failed to appreciate the fact that John Dramani Mahama's latest digital address centred on his legacies at the health sector. A supposed Regional Communication Director who could not do a simple exercise as paying attention to detail and at the end misfires, is not only super incompetent but a nuisance in the scheme of communications that must be consigned to the deepest side of a dustbin. For the benefit of David Prah who did not know what Mr Mahama said but purports to respond to him when his National Communications "

Below is his full statement

NPP Eastern Regional Communication Director must speak like an intellectual but not like illiterate Wontumi

I have read a piece attributed to the Eastern Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, David Prah, and for a moment, I paused to ask myself if politics has corrupted the thinking ability of a man who taught me at Presbyterian Colleague of Education! Ever since David Prah was appointed Regional Communications Director of Eastern Region, he has never mounted any superior issue-based debate on his government policies except unrelated tantrums aimed at catching the attention of whoever he has been praying to please.

His style of debate is akin to pointless and thoughtless innuendos of Wontumi, Abronye DC and other uncultured supposed bigwigs of the NPP. The likes of Wontumi and Abronye DC have been pardoned for their illiteracy because they are indeed illiterates who are fortunate to associate with a Party that gives opportunity to lunatics to air their views. Whatever attracts David Prah, a teacher, to that style of communications can only be found in the political tradition he has decided to join.

On the issue at hand, David Prah, once again, demonstrated his inability to debate issues and at the end, did a great disservice to his Party and Governement, particularly on issues of infrastructural projects at the health sector. In his self-promotional gimmick haste, he failed to appreciate the fact that John Dramani Mahama's latest digital address centered on his legacies at the health sector. A supposed Regional Communication Director who could not do a simple exercise as paying attention to detail and at the end misfires, is not only super incompetent but a nuisance in the scheme of communications that must be consigned to the deepest side of a dustbin.

For the benefit of David Prah who did not know what Mr Mahama said but purports to respond to him when his National Communications Director has remained mute for obvious reasons, what the former President did was to highlight his achievements at the health sector. In doing so, he pointed hospitals, CHPS compounds and health centres that his government constructed. He also pointed out projects at the health sector that his Government bequeathed the Akufo Addo government that it has either failed to commission or complete them. The former President's account was corroborated by credible media houses. Before Mr Mahama's account, NPP's OccupyGhana had petitioned the President Akufo Addo to commission and/or complete infrastructure projects at the health sector started by Mahama worth $1.2 billion dollars.

As a response to Mr Mahama, both the Minister of Health and Information Minister did not deny the fact that the former President initiated projects that needed to be completed and commissioned. Rather, both of them rebuffed claims that the projects have been abandoned. According to them, government has since it took office made efforts to continue from where it took over - this assertion is false anyways. Most of the projects the Akufo Addo government inherited needed only Commissioning. It is strikingly shocking that a supposed competent government will spend almost three and a half years in office but could not commission a hospital it inherited.

Of all the peripheral achievements David Prah mentioned as achievements of his government, he could not mention even a CHPS compound that his Governement has started. Since the discussion was about the Heath sector, David Prah should have told Ghanaians his Government's record in this critical sector of our economy. Because his Governement has no record there, he conveniently chose to tout their usual free shs, nurses and trainee teachers allowance etc. Sorry Mr Prah, the discussion was about health and not what you spoke about. Of course Mr Mahama will speak the other areas in the coming days but in the meantime, let's stay with the health sector. For your assignment, you will do your Party a lot of good if you could catalogue it's achievements at the health sector in terms of projects.

As for the things you mentioned about planned 88 district hospitals and 6 regional hospitals, they are assertions of a failure. What Ghanaians are interested in are physical projects not promises. At best, you could have spent times to tell Ghanaians how the 88 district hospitals and 6 regional hospitals will be funded. Unfortunately, you failed to do any of these. Rather you spent time insulting Mr Mahama who has confronted your Government with hard facts.

As one of your former students, my advice to you is that the Wontumi and Abronye DC style of politics is only meant for illiterates without substance. If you want to be taken serious as a Regional Communication Director, stick to issues and not what you have been engaged in. You are not an illiterate and I continue to respect you as my former Tutor but your style of communication, I'm sorry must be changed because with how it is now,it sounds and looks like that of an illiterate.
