NDC urges Zongo communities to reject NPP in December polls

Mankrong-Junction, (C/R), Sept 2, GNA- The Zongo communities have been urged to reject the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the 2008 Election for a better Ghana. The NPP has preached property-owning democracy, yet Ghanaians complained of economic hardship, high cost of education, hunger and poor salaries for workers.

Alhaji Ibrahim Jabire, Central Regional Treasurer of the Zongo Caucus, a group within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), made the call when he was addressing members of the Regional Caucus, at Mankrong-Junction in the Agona East District. He appealed to Zongo communities to form vibrant branches of the Caucus and campaign vigorously for the NDC, to enable the party to win the polls to reverse the economic hardship facing the people. Alhaji Jabire said since the NPP took over the administration of the country the Haj had been associated with problems.

He said the Government did not do much to improve Islamic schools in the Zongo communities in the region and others parts of the country. Alhaji Jabire said Alhaji Aliu Mahama's position as Vice President of Ghana did not benefit Muslims since they were still struggling to come out of poverty and other related problems. He said that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP flag bearer for the 2008 Election, selected Dr Mahamadu Bawumia from the Zongo community as his running mate, to coerce Zongo Communities to vote for the party. Alhaji Jabire said that the Nasara club formed in the Zongo communities by the NPP did not yield any positive results to improve the welfare of Muslims.

Alhaji Jabire appealed to the people of the Central Region to vote massively for Professor Evans Attah Mills and the NDC in the December polls because NPP could not offer any thing to the country.
