NDC to win by 53 percent Atukwei Quaye

Mr. Sam Atukwei Quaye, the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said the party would win the December election by not less than 53% of the total votes cast.

“This should be obvious to all due to the number of development projects the government had undertaken,” he said in an interview with the GNA in Accra.

Mr. Quaye said it was important that members of the party kept their focus, stay united and to ignore individuals whose sole aim is to prevent the victory of the NDC.

He said the government had done creditably to ensure its electoral victory with initiatives like opening new universities in the Volta and Brong-Afaho regions, and the Sahara Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) that is operating in the three northern regions as well as transparency in management of revenue from oil.

Mr. Quaye said over 10,000 people have been trained through the LESDEP programme and they had been given start-up kits to go into business. The government has also distributed free school uniforms and exercise books and increased the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) from GH¢12 to GH¢36.

He said in spite of the Dutch government’s withdrawal of its funding for the School Feeding Program, the Mills Administration had expanded it and has eliminated 1,700 schools under trees and replaced them with modern structures.

Mr. Quaye said the government was improving education and was motivating teachers with packages including laptops and has given 50,000 laptops to school children.

He said a lot had been done over the last three years and appealed to NDC members to stay united and work towards achieving victory in December.**
