The Tema East Constituency Executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the party would snatch the constituency from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 general election.

Mr Adams Iddrisu, NDC's Deputy Secretary for the Constituency told the Ghana News Agency that the party was poised to win the seat with a bigger margin.

Mr Iddrisu said it was unfortunate that his party lost with only three votes during the 2012 elections adding that they were making putting in the needed measures to ensure victory.

"Winning the seat from the NPP is a sure banker in 2016", he said.

In 2012, the NDC's candidate Mr Robert Kempes Ofosuware, who was then the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, polled 30,072 votes as against the winner Mr Daniel Titus Glover of the NPP who won with 30,075 votes.

Mr Ofosuware in the just ended parliamentary primaries was retained as the constituency parliamentary candidates for 2016 after receiving 2,731 votes.

He will again be competing with the incumbent Member of Parliament Mr Glover for the seat after losing to him.

Mr Iddrisu said the party has had its first meeting with all the candidates that contested the parliamentary primaries to ensure unity towards campaigning for the main elections.

He called on supporters of the three losing candidates; Mr Michael Nii Abbey, Mr Noah Apedoe and Nii Bediako Krakue to rally behind Mr Ofosuware to ensure a massive win in the general elections.
