The Grassroot Association of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has demanded answers and action concerning the helicopter crash which led to the death of eight individuals.
The group demanded a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the cause of the accident.
National Coordinator of the group Mathieu Kwao Bentho said the accident is unfortunate, but there is the need to thoroughly prove the matter to determine the cause of the crash.
He admitted that although he was not a qualified aviation expert, he would, however, posit that from his brief experience with aircraft, he believes the negligence of someone may have caused this accident.
“How did this tragedy occur? What caused this helicopter to crash?” He was questioned in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.
“We need a comprehensive, transparent investigation that will provide closure to grieving families and prevent future tragedies.”
He said something has gone wrong because the tragedy does not sound right, and that is why we are demanding that authorities investigate and find out what happened.
He added that GA-NDC has pledged to keep the memory of these heroes alive, vowing to “continue their unfinished work with renewed vigour” and support the families of the victims.
Mathieu Kwao Bentho noted that the contributions by the departed souls to Ghana’s development, security, and democracy will “never be forgotten”.
"From Dr Boamah’s dedication to national security to Dr Mohammed’s environmental advocacy, the association promised that their work would continue to inspire future generations, he said.
He added the ideals of grassroots democracy championed by Dr Sarpong will remain a cornerstone of their advocacy for inclusive governance.
To the bereaved families he said, “Know that your sacrifices will never be forgotten. Your husbands and fathers died as heroes, and their legacy of service will forever inspire generations of Ghanaians.”
