Mr George Adongo Ayamboya Mr George Adongo Ayamboya

Mr George Adongo Ayamboya, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman for the Talensi constituency has expressed fears that the party might lose its Parliamentary seat in the coming 2020 general elections.

According to him the party’s electoral fortunes since 1992 had dwindled thereby making the parliamentary seat not too safe for the party.

Citing reasons to his claims, Mr Ayamboya stated that the NDC in the Talensi Constituency has lost dominance as a strong hold due to “dissatisfaction which led to some party members defecting to other parties while others sat on the fence and watched”

The Constituency Chairman made these remarks at Pusu-Namongo in the Talensi District during a meeting of people who matter in the NDC to foster unity and make the party in the constituency attractive and formidable ahead of the 2020 general elections.

The meeting brought together elders, past and present MPs and well wishers of the party.

Mr Ayamboya stated that the contributions of the party members in the constituency should always be recognized and urged them to do away with the “monkey dey work, Baboo dey chop” attitude.

He pledged to work together with other executives of the party to compile and display projects taken by the NDC government as a way of re branding the party in the constituency.

He entreated all party members who went into contest in the constituency and lost, to come together “for resounding victory in the 2020 general elections”
The NDC has won elections in the Talensi Constituency since 1992 until 2012 when the NPP won it for the first time. The seat, held by the NPP then became vacant when the former MP resigned and was enskined made Paramount Chief of the area.

A by-election was then organized which saw, Benson Tongo Baba recapturing it for the NDC.

Mr Ayamboya used the occasion to appeal to the MP and other former government appointees in the constituency to aid the executives with Ghc 23,100.00 to settle 231 branch election directors who were recruited to do registration at the branch level.

Former District Chief Executive for Talensi, Mr Edward Awunuure speaking to the Ghana News Agency recounted gains made during his tenure and said the district recorded an unprecedented development projects under the eNDC administration.

“NDC has done a lot for the people of Talensi; it was NDC that tarred the road from Winkongo to Tongo. The NDC has done an unprecedented extension of electricity across various communities within the Talensi district”, he added.
