NDC Punches NPP Again

... After Asawase it is Odododiodioo

THOUSANDS of jubilant supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), are dancing on some streets in Accra to celebrate the NDC?s massive victory over the NPP in the just ended Odododiodioo bye-election.

In a fiercely contested bye-election. NDC?s Tackie Komme pulled 26,771 stretching the NPP?s Asafoatse Kojo Mankattah with a margin of 8,306.

The NPP managed with 18,465. With this margin, the NDC has in about eight months doubled the votes it had in the 2004 general elections.

The celebrations started as early as 6.45 p.m. on Tuersday, when various results at the polling stations indicted an NDC victory.

The supporters some of whom were in their NDC party attire and paraphernalia chanted and danced typical Ga songs as they jubilated enormously.

One of their sons which when translated meant that ?I and my father are one, yamutu? was aimed at ridiculing the NPP who had used that as a slogan for their candidate, Asafoatse Mankattah.

The jubilation reached its peak when the Electoral Commission announced the results and decaled NDC the winner. The celebration went deep into the night with an increase in the number of the jubilants.

Meanwhile information on our news desk is that, the NDC will hold a mini rally to thank the supporters for voting for the right man soon.
