NDC Hohoe-South secretary resigns

Ho, Jan 10, GNA - Mr Favour M. Randy Mortey, Hohoe-South Deputy Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced his resignation from his position and party respectively from Tuesday January 10, 2006.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the constituency and copied to the press, Mr Mortey gave reasons for his decision as mudslinging in the party, especially the "inhuman treatment" of some delegates to the 2004 congress of the party at the University of Ghana, Legon.

The letter said "intimidation and violence" which were applied at the recent Koforidua congress to get some particular persons to emerge victorious regrettably remained un-condemned.

"I therefore do not want to remain in a system of oligarchy as well as fascist one, where one cannot express and enjoy his political sovereignty. The best option is for me to back out of the party as a member and an office holder," Mr Mortey stated.

Earlier on Thursday, January 5 this year three Regional Executives of the NDC in the Volta Region also resigned from the party, giving similar reasons.

They are Mr Michael Gamor, Regional Organizer, Manfred Nuku-Dei, Deputy Regional Secretary and Mr Wisdom Defeamekpor, First Deputy Regional Youth Organizer. 10 Jan 06
