NCCE denies "fictitious" Daily Guide report on Presidential debate

The National Commission on Civic Education, (NCCE), has described as fictitious a publication in Monday’s edition of the Daily Guide Newspaper which says the Commission is preparing to host a Presidential debate at the request of the ruling NDC.

According to the publication, the NCCE wants to rival the Institute of Economic Affairs, the traditional organizers of Presidential debates in the country.

Director of Communications at the NCCE, Harrison Belley in an interview with XYZ News said the commission has no plans to organize a debate and also denies being contracted by any party to organize a presidential debate.

“We don’t have any idea about the publication by Daily Guide; we don’t know where it is coming from. We are waiting for Daily Guide to give us the schedule.

“The Daily Guide went ahead to publish a news item that NDC has contracted the NCCE to organize Presidential debates, that is total fiction that is the kind of journalism coming from them, it is false” Mr. Belley said. **
