N/R CJA calls for clean campaign in December elections

Tamale, Feb.21, GNA - The Northern Regional branch of the Committee for Joint Action (CJA) has urged politicians and followers of the various political parties to show civility, decorum and respect in their campaign towards the December elections.

In a press statement issued in Tamale on Thursday and signed by its regional branch secretary, Mr.Ibrahim Awal, the group called on politicians "to do the nation some good by advising their activists to let their activities be devoid of acts likely to leave bitter results for the nation".

"Let the microphones, television sets and the airwaves be devoid of vulgar language, which often characterises Ghanaian electioneering campaigns", the statement said.

The CJA said: '"In all that we do as Ghanaians, we should always put the interest of the nation first and make it paramount to our personal gains".

It noted that the nation could only achieve a violent-free election if political campaigns were conducted in a mature and peaceful manner.
