The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Opppong Nkrumah has attributed Ghana’s slow pace of development to lack of prioritization and mismanagement of the country’s resources.

He believes Ghana is very resourceful and has the potential to raise more money, but the lack of prudent application of funds has slowed development.

Speaking to Jeremie and Jay Foley on LIVE 91.9 FM’s breakfast show, Live Breakfast Club on Monday, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stated that such carelessness on the part of government and state institutions if continued is sure to make Ghana’s transition to the status of a developed country a mirage.

“I don’t know if you know about the urban transport project; it was a simple project that was supposed to cut one lane out from the Kasoa to Kaneshie road so that the buses can move on that lane according to time devoid of traffic, just one lane, the World Bank that was giving us part funding made the money available, the government of Ghana was supposed to make its counterpart funding available and our engineers were supposed to execute the project; it’s been like four years, and it cannot happen. It cannot happen because the government of Ghana’s funds is mostly delaying and the technocrats who are supposed to lead the charge and get it done always have an excuse to give, and the job remains undone”.

He blamed the status quo on the refusal of those who think they can do the job better but have elected not to be part of the process but remain commentators on the sidelines.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who, until recently was the Morning Show Host on JOY FM is now plying a trade in politics where he is confident of contributing to enhancing the living conditions of his constituents and Ghanaians in general.
