Ministry hails appointment of Nana Oye Lithur

Staff at the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs renamed Gender, Children and Social Protection, on Tuesday hailed the nomination of Nana Oye Lithur by President John Dramani Mahama as the sector Minister.

Mrs Adiza Ofori-Adu, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the entire staff are excited over the appointment of Nana Oye Lither.

She described her as a person well versed in gender and human rights issues and would fit perfectly at the Ministry to advance the course of gender especially women and children.

“Nana Oye Lithur had on various occasions in the past collaborated with the then Ministry of Women and Children Affairs on matters related to women and children and was always on top of issues.

"She is very competent as she comes with a wealth of experience in the area of gender and human rights issues and we are very happy for her nomination by the President”, Mrs Ofori-Adu said.

She said as civil servants, they would support Nana Oye Lithur to succeed in her new office by dealing with issues of gender, children and social protection.

Mrs Ofori-Adu commended the immediate past Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs, Mrs Juliana Azumah Mensah for doing her best in advancing the course of women and children.

“The ministry supports the nomination of Nana Oye Lithur and our prayer is that she goes though her vetting successfully and we are ready to work with her to continue advancing the course of gender especially women and children”, she said.
