Mills must convince Rawlings to join 2012 campaign - Ephson

Pollster Ben Ephson says the ruling NDC would have to convince the Rawlingses that they are better off under an NDC administration than under an NPP government if they are to get the former first couple back on the campaign trail.

Relations have strained between the Rawlingses and the Mills administration over the last three years since the President assumed office.

There have been several attempts to patch up the two in the past but all efforts have proved futile.

Speaking on Breakfast XYZ, Ben Ephson, who is also the Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, said the NDC can make things easier for the party with Rawlings back onboard.

“The NDC would have to work extra hard to win without Rawlings. If they have Rawlings on board it would be easier for them” he noted.

Ben Ephson explained that Rawlings not campaigning for the NDC would induce apathy among his supporters and they would not turn out to vote.

“If Rawlings is to campaign for the NDC, the time they would use to appeal to the Rawlings loyalists, that time can be used to convince floating voters who are key voters” he added.**
