Edumadze goes to the rescue of the disabled in his constituency

Ajumako (C/R), Aug. 11, GNA - Mr Isaac Edumadze, Central Regional Minister, has said he is providing 10 million cedis from his Member of Parliament's (MP's) share of the district Assemblies' Common Fund (DACF) for the physically handicapped in the area to enable them to go into economic ventures.

He has also given them one million cedis to enable them to acquire an office.

Mr Edumadze who is the MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Essian, said this when he inaugurated the local branch of the Ghana Society for the Physically Handicapped.

He appealed to the public to have sympathy for the disabled and to support them materially.

Mr Edumadze told the Executives of the Association to refrain from embezzling funds and to use monies given to it judiciously to improve their living standards.

Mr Ransford Mensah, Chairman of the Association, said the society was established in the area three years ago and now has 120 members. He said the majority of the society's members were illiterate and appealed to parents to send their physically handicapped children to school.

Mr Mensah appealed to Parliament to expedite its deliberations on the National Disability Bill.
