MP must go unopposed - Group

A group in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency, calling itself “Friends of Mr. Cassiel Ato Forson,” had stated that it was ready and poised to ensure that their “Edwumawura” enjoyed a complete endorsement from the rank and file of members and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) within the constituency.

This, the group said, would enable their Member of Parliament (MP) to continue with his good works to help improve the livelihood of citizens in the area.

‘We hope the 2016 general elections will be fought based on competency and popularity of a candidate, and in regard the NDC party should not hesitate to maintain Mr. Ato Forson the incumbent MP of the area as the sole candidate, and should not experiment with any candidate at this time.

Mr. Alex Galahad Andoh, leader of the group, addressing a press conference said, they supported Mr. Forson, and that anybody with the intention to contest him should rescind that decision.

“The members of the group numbered about 24,000 who are invariably members of the party are vehemently insisting that Mr. Ato Forson deserves the honour of going unopposed”.

He pointed out that they were not asking that nobody should not contest him, but evidently discouraging such people should hold on for now, in order not to incur the displeasure of the group.

Measuring the performance of Mr. Forson, the group said since 2009 when he was elected the MP, he had helped the economic development of the area.

The group said his conscious efforts at empowering the youth irrespective of their political affiliations was to be acknowledged, hence he should be allowed to go uncontested as a sign of the massive endorsement.

Mr. Andoh said the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency was blessed to have Mr. Forson as “God-sent,” because he had already proven to have the welfare of the constituents at heart
