MP expresses government's appreciation

Busunya (B/A) May 28, GNA - Major Derek Oduro (rtd), MP for Nkoranza North, at the weekend expressed the government's appreciation for the peaceful conduct of the bye-election in the area and gave assurance of its support for the accelerated development of the constituency.

He was addressing the chiefs and people of Busunya at a fund raising rally towards the construction of a Post Office and a market in the community.

The MP also thanked the people for voting massively for him and promised to work to meet their expectations. Major Oduro advised the youth to bury heir political differences as the elections were over and rather forge ahead in unity and co-ordinate ideas to enhance the development of their communities.

He advised the people against chieftaincy and land litigations, which tended to divide them and adversely affected the development of their communities.

Mr. James Appiah-Awuah, District Chief Executive, commended the people for their self-help and communal labour spirit and urged them to maintain it to attract more support from the District Assembly. He said the Assembly had plans to construct a three-classroom block for the Senior Secondary School at Busunya to allow more intake of students.

The DCE advised the youth to be disciplined and to shun wee smoking, alcoholism and sexual promiscuity so they could grow up to become responsible citizens.

Nana Okofo Nyarko Gyabaa 11 chief of the area commended Professor Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah, Principal of Sunyani Polytechnic and a citizen of the area and Mr. Eric Amoateng, former MP for the area, for their outstanding contributions to the development of the area. The chief and people named two streets in the town after the two personalities.
