MP asks NPP to endorse Nana Akufo-Addo as flagbearer

Juaso (Ash), June 2, GNA - The Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima-Mponua, Mr Isaac Asiamah has

appealed to delegates to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) August 7, National Congress to endorse Nana Addo

Danquah Akufo-Addo as the party's presidential candidate. He said it would not be politically helpful to pick any other candidate given Nana Akufo-Addo's

popularity and the tremendous goodwill he enjoys from voters. The MP was addressing NPP supporters at Juaso on the last leg of the presidential aspirant's campaign

tour of the Ashanti Region, the party's support base. Mr Asiamah said the job of unseating the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be made

easier when Nana Akufo-Addo is given the nod to lead the NPP to the 2012 General Election. He urged members of the party to avoid the mistake of changing the 2008 presidential candidate for

another person. "Let us ensure we make the right decision," he stressed. Mr Yaw Osafo-Marfo of Nana Akufo-Addo campaign team said although all the presidential aspirants

deserved to lead the party, Nana Akufo-Addo stood a better chance of returning the party to power. "Nana has over the years established himself as a distinguished politician with an impeccable record

while in government and merits another chance to lead us to battle." On his part, Nana Akufo-Addo said Ghanaians were yearning for the return of the NPP after 16 months of

unfulfilled election promises by the Mills Administration. He said not only had the NDC failed to implement their numerous campaign pledges but also

unfortunately collapsing the laudable policies and social interventions left by the NPP government. He asked the party national delegates to make the right choice at the congress to bring respite to

Ghanaians, burdened by untold economic hardships "We cannot simply fail or to disappoint Ghanaians", he added.
