Lordina Mahama sets Techiman market on "fire"

Hundreds of Ghanaians on thursday thronged the Techiman market to welcome the First Lady,her excellency Lordina Mahama.

The large crowd, waving miniature flags, paraphernalia of the NDC and placards with various inscriptions in support of the party,burst into hilarious joy when the toyota pick-up in which the first lady was standing approached the main entrance of the market.Some of the inscriptions read:"We love John Mahama",One Touch victory",advancing the better Ghana agenda',"quality education,but not 419 SHS and "free SHS? Na lie.

The crowd was so huge that the security personnel had a hectic moment controlling it.

Earlier,the first lady paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and elders of the Techiman traditional council.

The adontenhene ,who represented the omanhene Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV in his speech, cautioned politicians and political parties to avoid violence in their quest to wrestle power.He indicated that Techiman would not be part of any violence associated with political activities.The Adontehene also thanked her excellency for a new fire tender and other developments in the two constituencies and like Oliver Twist ,will always ask for more.

Lordina Mahama on her part assured Ghanaians of the National Democratic Congress' determination to conduct its campaign in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.She urged the people of Techiman,to vote for the party's Parliamentary Candidates, Alex Kyeremeh and Adjei Mensah of Techiman North and South constituencies respectively.

The First lady pledged that the NDC government,under her husband John Mahama,would ensure the creation of jobs and developments in the region and the country as a whole.

She also made donations to two orphanages in the two constituencies.

She was accompanied by Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister,Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo and his deputy Eric Opoku,Member of the Council of state,Cecilia Johnson,Minister for Environment,Science and Technology,Ms Sherry Ayittey,deputy Ashanti regional minister,Animah Wilson,Chief Executive of FDB,Dr.Stephen Opuni,former works and house minister,I.K Adjei Mensah,Municipal Chief Executive of Techiman,Alex Kyeremeh and some NDC Executives of the two constituencies.
