‘Let’s pray for him to get a new appointment’ – Ntim Fordjour 'mocks' Afriyie Ankrah

Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, has reacted to the establishment of the Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, headed by Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.

His remarks follow earlier calls by Afriyie Ankrah urging religious leaders to refrain from sharing prophecies centered on death and doom and instead focus on messages of growth and national development.

'70 to 80% of prophecies my office has received lack substance' - Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah

In a post on his social media page on Saturday, August 22, 2025, Rev Ntim Fordjour questioned the relevance of the newly created office.

“Ah, so what’s your office for? Have you appointed another Staffer to receive the prophecies? You’re not the Minister for Local Govt & Religious Affairs but you created for yourself an Office for ‘Prophecies’. Let’s pray for him to get a better appointment; he deserves better!” he wrote.

Ntim Fordjour's comments follow a statement Afriyie Ankrah issued on August 10, 2025, urging all ecumenical heads to ensure that any prophecy or spiritual message of national interest is reported to his office.

'Enough of your death prophecies, my office isn't for receiving prophecies' – Elvis Afriyie Ankrah

The statement explained that the directive was aimed at promoting “responsibility, discernment, and stewardship over the nation’s destiny.”

It further called for nationwide prayers in the aftermath of a fatal accident involving government officials and military personnel.
