'Let Oppong-Nkrumah run so I can defeat him’

A leading contender for the Ofoase-Ayirebi parliamentary seat John Obiri Yeboah is pleading with executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency to allow ace broadcaster Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah contest the upcoming primaries of the party so he can defeat him.

Chairman of the party in the constituency Ohene Amponsah has said the former Joy FM Morning Show host is unfit to contest the seat because he has not lived in the constituency for at least two years, as required by the party’s constitution.

But Obiri-Yeboah in an interview with Starr News’ Ibrahim Alhassan said the chairman was wrong in making such comments.

“I disagree; trust me I disagree. This is a contest and at the end of the day, we have a vetting committee who are going to do their job.

“I believe that they should just allow whoever wants to contest to come on board. It’s a battle, let’s do the game and let’s see the people’s choice,” he stated.

The freight forwarder said he is looking forward to a healthy competition with Oppong-Nkrumah.

“I will also beg the chairman or even the vetting committee to allow my brother to contest because I will make history if I beat him.

“Because he is all over the place and my main aim is to make history. If Kojo is not part of the race I bet you; I won’t be happy because we are all youth and you know we are encouraging the youth, we need more youth to support this campaign.

"Although I’m going to win hands down, I need Kojo to run just so I can prove a point".
