Leave us alone - Kyerematen Campaign team

Accra, Oct. 12, GNA - The Alan Kyerematen Campaign Team said on Friday that its attention was drawn to a lot of spurious allegations against Mr Alan Kyerematen for the fund-raising dinner he held on Sunday October 7, this year at the Accra International Conference Centre.

A statement signed by Mr Osei Kankam of the Team said fund-raising as a concept was widely practised in many democracies, to support the political campaign of individuals and political parties.

It said currently Senator Hillary Clinton's fund-raising has hit 80 million US dollars mark.

The event was not a clandestine activity, it was publicised and held at a public facility and that it did not breach any of Ghana's laws and the Campaign Team would like to challenge anybody to prove otherwise.

The statement said it was unaware of any donation emanating from laundered money or proceeds from illicit drug trafficking and that the Campaign team would welcome any piece of evidence to the contrary. It said, "Mr Alan Kyerematen, a skilled fund-raiser has been doing same for the NPP since 1992 under the auspices of the Young Executive Forum (YEF), which he chaired."

The statement entreated Ghanaians and in particular, "the teeming NPP supporters to disregard the orchestrated campaign of lies, misinformation and negative propaganda against the next flag-bearer of the NPP and God willing, the next President of the Republic of Ghana." It gave the assurance to Ghanaians and NPP supporters that Mr Kyerematen has the quest "to deliver 'More Jobs' which will lead to 'More Cash' if given the mandate; (he) is still on course."
