Pressure mounts on President Mahama to appoint defence minister
Since the tragic helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, which claimed the life of Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the ministry has been under the temporary leadership of Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, who was appointed to act in the position.
The prolonged vacancy, however, has sparked calls for a substantive appointment to strengthen the Ministry’s capacity in addressing the country’s emerging security challenges.
