A former Member of Parliament for Kade, Ofosu Asamoah, has officially switched allegiance from Kwabena Agyepong’s camp to publicly support former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He made the announcement at a campaign event in the Eastern Region on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Endorsements reinforce strong backing from NPP faithful - Bawumia
“If you see me here, don't be surprised. I am the same Ofosu Asamoah you know. My connection with Dr Bawumia isn’t new; I just chose not to back him earlier. But sometimes change is necessary,” he told delegates.
Asamoah explained that closely observing Agyepong’s campaign led him to make the decision.

“In life, you don’t embark on a journey that is taking you nowhere. You need a clear vision to know where you are heading. I was a campaign manager in Kwabena Agyepong's team, but after much assessment, I have decided to be part of this team,” he added.
The New Patriotic Party has scheduled its presidential primary for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Five candidates are vying for the party’s flagbearer position.
They are former General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyepong; former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong; former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Bryan Acheampong; the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; and the former Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.
