Kufuor punches NDC?s manifesto

* Says it?s a document of confusion

Aside of his firm predictions of a landslide victory for his New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December elections, President John Agyekum Kufuor has described the manifesto of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a confusing document.

The manifesto, dubbed, ?A Better Ghana?? and recently launched in Kumasi, is viewed by the members the NDC as a well- defined document which will propel the country to the promised land after recapturing power in the upcoming elections.

But the President sees it differently saying the NDC?s election blueprint contains some elements of contradictions.

President Kufuor said members of the NDC give different interpretations of the content of the manifesto, adding that while some talk about social democracy others centre on social development as the main objective of the document.

Addressing thousands of charged party faithful drawn from different parts of the country to launch the NPP?s national campaign at Mantse Agbona in Accra last week, he added that the ruling NPP would show the NDC how the country is managed.

He questioned how Ghanaians could return political power to the NDC?s flagbearer, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, who has declared to consult the former president 24 hours to manage this country.

To ensure total victory in the December polls, President Kufuor said his party would intensify their campaign activities in the areas where the party secured low votes in the last elections.

President Kufuor said his administration has built a sound economic foundation since assuming power in 2000 and would continue to ensure that the private sector becomes the engine of growth during ? positive change chapter two??.

On his part, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Papa Owusu Ankomah, said although the Kufuor administration aims at minimising the canker of corruption, it would not follow reported cases of corruption, which have no documentary evidence.

He also dismissed the claim that NPP government officials have been engulfed in bribery, saying ?there is no corruption in Kufuor?s administration??.

Papa Owusu said the establishment and the provision of logistics to the police administration and CHRAJ are clear manifestations of the government commitment to fighting against corruption. He said government would not tolerate any acts of corruption.
