On May 7, 2024, the former Mayor of Kumasi and the 2023 NDC Presidential Candidate aspirant, Kojo Bonsu, began a working visit to centers designated by the Electoral Commission of Ghana for the limited voter registration exercises in the Ashanti Region.

Starting in the Kumasi Metropolis, the former Ghana Oil Managing Director visited the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), where the EC has consolidated six constituencies for registration.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Bonsu acknowledged that the process has been smooth thus far; however, he criticized the EC's decision to require people to travel from distant places to register for a voter ID card, which could have been done at polling centers within their constituencies. He expressed concern that this might deter first-time voters, as the travel expenses could ultimately disenfranchise them.

The Sports Administrator took the opportunity to urge everyone, including political parties, to refrain from any form of violence and intimidation, allowing all individuals to register and exercise their constitutional rights on December 7.

Kojo Bonsu and his team are expected to continue monitoring the registration process over the coming days.
