Kofi Mintah to contest NDC National Vice Chairman position

Winneba (C/R), Dec.3, GNA - A founding member of the National Democra= tic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, has expressed the desire to contest=

the National Vice Chairman position of the party at the 2010 national delegates' congress in Tamale.

Interacting with the media in Winneba on Wednesday, Mr Kofi Mintah, w= ho was the past Regional Chairman of the party and currently the Regional Disciplinary Committee Chairman, said his decision to contest the positio= n was influenced by his experience as a team player and a unifier. He said the party had gotten to a cross-road where experienced people= in political administration were needed to mend the divisions being created by the utterances of some members.

Mr Mintah, a businessman asked members of the party to grant Presiden= t John Evans Atta Mills the space to develop his own method of governance, adding: "We (NDC) must not compel him to depart from his laid down system= ," he said. "At the end of the mandated four years we shall all get to know wheth= er his method was workable or not." Mr Mintah said when he get the nod at the congress he would collabora= te with executive members of the NDC to put in place mechanisms to cater for=

the welfare of the party's foot-soldiers and the teeming supporters. He appealed to people who would be elected as delegates to the congre= ss not to let money and personal gains cloud their decisions but to think ab= out the building of the party to withstand shock. This, he said, called for the election of honest and dedicated executives who could deliver. He urged the youth to see the party as their source of hope and work harder for it to retain power.
