Jaman South picks Boakye Djan as Chairman

The Jaman South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has elected its 2012 NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Osahene Major Kwadwo Boakye Djan,(RTD) as its chairman.

He was elected by the 480-member Electoral College at Drobo.

Osahene Boakye Djan, a former Spokesperson and Head of Government in the erstwhile Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) regime, pledged to unite and reconcile members for victory in 2016.

Mr Peter Kwabena Ankomah Pierre, who was the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for 2008, was elected the Constituency Secretary.

Mr Kenneth Kwanangwa Ankamah was elected the Deputy Secretary, Madam Rose Asantewaa, the incumbent Women’s Organizer retained her seat.

Mr Ahmed Kyeremeh, was elected Organizer, Mr Ahmed Yussif Kubaman, Deputy Organizer and Mr Alfred Azure, the Propaganda Secretary.

Mr Andrews Obiri Korang, a chartered accountant, was also elected Treasurer, Mr Ben Azumah, Deputy Treasurer, Mr Samuel Kwadwo Kusi, NADMO Coordinator, as the Youth Organizer, while Mr Esmond Ohene Takyi got the Deputy Youth Organizer position.

Mr Vasco Kwadwo Tano and Madam Mary Fosua were retained as Deputy Propaganda Secretary and Deputy Women’s Organizer.

In addition, seven functional executive members and their deputies and eight other co-opted members were elected to augment schedules and activities of the party.

All the elected and confirmed officers swore oath of allegiance to the party and pledged to work in unity in the interest of the party.

The election was supervised by Mr Takyi Arhin, Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the Party, and the Jaman South District Electoral Commission.

Madam Dora Tamea, Jaman South District Chief Executive, said to wrestle power from the NPP at the constituency level would not be easy and, therefore, called for due diligence, unity, solidarity, love, reconciliatory efforts and commitment to do the job.
