The Government is not autocratic - DCE

Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, Agona Swedru District Chief Executive has assured assembly members that there would no interference in their duties since the government was not autocratic believed in true democracy and the rule of law.

Interacting with them at Swedru, he urged assembly members to study the Local Government Act to make them more efficient.

He said this would also enable them to facilitate the development of their communities and help in building their political carrier.

Mr Agyabeng urged them to draw development programmes and to solicit assistance from NGOs and other sources to improve the lot of the electorate.

He described district assemblies as "the foundation of democracy" in the country and asked the members to strive to win the confidence of the people.

"It will be sad for you to allow outside forces to detect to you," he said adding that, "you should be up and doing to move the district forward".

The DCE cautioned the members to refrain from issues that could create problems for them and the people.

Mr Apoh-Baiden, Secretary of the Agona Fankobaa Kuw, a benevolent society in the area, told the assembly members to be honest and truthful since that was the only way they could champion the course of the people.

He advised them "to stop in-fighting and power struggle" and to work as a team for the advancement of the district.
