Independent candidate for Takoradi solicits votes

Takoradi, Dec. 6, GNA - Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Takoradi Constituency, on Friday urged the electorate within the area to vote massively for him on December 7.

He said the constituency needed a young dynamic, competent and skilful Member of Parliament (MP) to pool resources of the people for the development of the area.

Mr. Darko-Mensah in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi, pledge that he would promote education by ensuring the establishment of a University in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis if elected as MP.

He also promised to support small and medium scale entrepreneurs to expand their activities to create jobs for the youth. Mr. Darko-Mensah called on the people to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections to deepen the country's fragile democracy. He said "We have lived together in peace and the forthcoming polls should not be a source of confusion and violence." 6 Dec. 08
