FIRST LADY INSPECTS PLAY GROUND FOR KIDS

The First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings on 20th October inspected a new playground for children which is being constructed at Dansoman in Accra by an NGO, "Kids around the World", based in Rockford, USA. The playground, the fourth to be constructed by the group will have facilities like 16 swings, 12 slides, merry-go-round, spring-cars for toddlers and a basketball court, as well as a library. 48 volunteers from the USA and Accra-West Rotary Club, the AMA and the 31st December Women's Movement, are working on the project. Speaking at the site, the First Lady hoped Ghanaians would see the project as their own and protect it and take better care of the facilities so that other generations will benefit from it. Nana Konadu commented on the two weeks' time limit set for completing the project and asked Ghanaians to emulate the hardwork of the volunteers so that other similar projects can be completed on time. The Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Mr.. Nat Nunoo-Amarteifio announced that a Vocational Training School will be established at the site. It will be built by a Chinese firm in collaboration with the AMA and the 31st December Women's Movement. End
