I envy Bagbin’s position – Nitiwul

Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul is fascinated by the position being occupied by the MP for Nadowli/Kaleo constituency, Alban Sumana Bagbin.

Hon. Bagbin, who is also the Majority Leader in Parliament, holds another position as the Leader of Government Business in the House.

In the view of the Bimbilla lawmaker, the position occupied by Mr. Bagbin is so powerful to the extent that he wish he was the one leading the House.

He is, therefore, urging the people of Nadowli/Kaleo constituency to consider themselves fortunate to have their son occupy such an envious position in the country.

“I envy Bagbin’s position. That position is so powerful that it takes people who have built a strong reputation for themselves over the years in the legislature to occupy such,” he said in an interview on WFM on Saturday.

He was addressing issues relating to the legislature together with the honourable Member for Walewale, Dr. Sagre Bambangi.

The two and a host of other MPs are currently in the Upper West Region for an outreach program dubbed ‘Taking Parliament to the people’ which is being facilitated by the Public Affairs Directorate of Parliament of Ghana.

Hon. Nitiwul, commenting further, expressed the belief that the number of years with which Hon. Bagbin has served coupled with the way he has conducted himself both in Parliament and public has made him who he (Bagbin) is today.

“If Bagbin is not there, it will take about 50 years or more for another person from Nadowli/Kaleo constituency to rise to that position. Bagbin is the most powerful person in Parliament.”
